Freedom Elementary Community Council Meeting Minutes

Topics Discussed:
- We approved the meeting minutes from Jan 4, 2024 meeting.
- We looked at the Trust Land Final Report for the 2022-2023 school year.
- We discussed the reading and math goal from the 2022-2023 school year and shared the data to show how we did on our goals. There was some discussion on if we can collaborate with the junior high about our students and supports they may need as they leave 6th grade and enter 7th grade. Mr. Lott talked about Panorama a program that is helpful to identify strengths and needs of our students that is available to the junior high.
- Concerns were brought up about some parents not knowing how to help their students with math because they are learning it in a different way than the parents learned. We also discussed if there is a possibility of using the Math Acadience data for our math Trusltands goal. Math Acadience is being used in K-3. It will be discussed with 4th-6th grade teachers to see if it is something they would like to give.
- Lott went through the plan and showed us where the money was spent last year.
- Lott asked the council if we had any recommendations about next year’s Teacher and Student Succe Plan (TSSP): One recommendation shared was to possibly lool at additional behavior support. If we do include this, then it was brought up if we could look at the school behavior plan in community council.
- Action Items for next time:
- Submit the plan
- Look at the current data from middle of the year Acadience reading assessment.
- Report how LandTrust money was spent in the 2022/2023 school year and if there will be any carryover into the 2023/2024 school year.
- Start a discussion about what we want our goals to be for next school year.
