Freedom Elementary Community Council Meeting Minutes

Meeting place: Freedom Elementary Library

Topics Discussed:

• Safe Walk Plan: 

  • Students who need to be added to the safe walking plan. Some students are walking to school next to the canal (something to look in to)

  • Look at the safety plan of the crosswalk on the east side of the school. Possibly a sign that says no drop zone. Update signage. Possibly check with PTA to see if there are volunteers to help make sure our students are safe on those sides.  

• Put Cami Anderson’s name as CC chair on the bulletin board, by the office. 

• We talked about roles and responsibilities for those in community council, as well as the rules of order for community council meetings. 

• We will get the information for the community council updated on the school website and keep it current.  

• Jenny Ross will take minutes for the meeting. 

• We talked about getting more parents and teachers on the community council and discussed if we can do an election at this point of the year, or if parents move out mid year. 

• Dates for community council were discussed, this is on the school website. 

• Talked about the School TrustLand distribution amount and how those funds were spent.  

• Reading Data for the 2022/2023 and the 2023/2024 school year was shared. 

• We discussed how we are supporting our students in reading through intervention and enrichment.

Action Items for next time:

• Follow up with information for the Safe Walk plan. 

• Follow up with information about adding parents and teachers to the community council.

• Video for community council members. Brandon sent this out.
